Fairhill Business Awards 2019

Building on the success of last year’s Fairhill Business Awards, we felt that it was time once again to acknowledge the hard work, commitment and dedication of our tenants and celebrate in their successes and contributions to Fairhill Shopping Centre over the last year.

The business awards offered 10 award categories; each store was encouraged and entitled to enter upto 3 categories.

The award categories presented were:

  • Service with a Smile
  • Shooting Star
  • Best Seasonal Display
  • Cleaner of the Year
  • Security Guard of the Year
  • Cafes, Coffee & Lunch
  • Best Team
  • Store Manager of the Year
  • Retailer of the Year
  • Customer Choice

Service with a Smile Award 

The runner up: provided an excellent service to our mystery shopper from the minute they entered their store. They carefully assessed their requirements and provided an excellent solution to meet their needs.

Runner Up: Thomas Cook 

The winner:  This store exceeded mystery shopper’s expectations with their friendly and professional service and advice. The employee introduced themselves by name and made our shopper feel valued and welcome.

Winner: The Perfume Shop 

Shooting Star Award 

The runner up: is clearly a highly valued member of her team who forges excellent relationship with team members and customers alike. She regularly receives praise and even hugs from her customers who appreciate her kind and caring approach.

Runner Up: Cara McCallion – Claire’s Accessories 

The Winner: Although not long in her role she has quickly impressed both her fellow colleagues and manager by giving “110%” every day.  A regular recipient of customer praise – she is also first to step up when things need to be done.

Winner: Billie Young – Quiz 

Best Seasonal Display Award 

The runner up: impressed the judges as not only was it bright and creative it showcased the store’s products in an imaginative way.  The judges were impressed that this Seasonal Display told a story which was engaging and appealing to customers.

Runner Up: Card Centre Home & Fragrance 

The Winner: used an excellent variety of mediums to create their Seasonal Display showcasing the products that they have on offer in their store which would inspire their customers to get creative themselves!

Winner: The Works 

Cleaner of the Year Award 

The runner up: in this category has been praised for their attention to detail as well as their pleasant and friendly demeanour to both customers and colleagues.  Their commitment to the job means they frequently work extra shifts and are the go-to person with any problems.

Runner Up: Gosia Zdrojewska

The winner: was nominated not only by their employer but by a store in the Centre. They were praised for doing all the jobs that others don’t want to do both inside and outside of the centre cheerfully and without complaint. They are committed to keeping health and safety standards high and are friendly and professional towards customers. The store who nominated them said “Keep up the amazing jobs and keep smiling because we see what you do and we are forever grateful.”

Winner: Gary Crawford & John Rock 

Cafes, Coffee and Lunch Award 

The runner up: “This outlet provided a comfortable and relaxed environment for us to enjoy our meal. The range of food and drinks provided was excellent and all were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.”

Runner Up: Marks and Spencer 

The winner: “The staff in this outlet were friendly, enthusiastic and keen to offer advice. The food and drinks were of a high standard with an excellent range and great value for money.  The restaurant itself was clean, vibrant and well presented.”

Winner: Greggs 

Best Team Award

The runner up: put together an excellent entry which clearly demonstrated this team’s commitment to be the very best they can be. This team is young, focused and driven, who always go the extra mile for each other and for their customers.

Runner Up: The Works 

The winner: demonstrated clearly in their application how despite a period of change they have pulled together as a team to achieve significant improvements across a range of metrics including staff satisfaction, customer service and sales. They have embraced change and have a positive can-do attitude.

Winner: Marks and Spencer

Security Guard of the Year Award

The runner up: has been recognised for their excellent customer service and dedication to keeping Fairhill Shopping Centre compliant and safe.  They are willing to go over and above by regularly helping out in areas outside of their usual role.

Runner Up: Vivienne Knox

The winner: is hard working and committed and displays excellent attention to detail in delivering a safe and secure environment for customers. He regularly calls in and checks in with individual stores to see if they need anything and offers his help. He deals with any situation in a calm and professional manner and has been described as a ‘credit to himself and the Fairhill Shopping Centre’.

Winner: Duane Johnston 

Store Manager of the Year Award

Shortlisted candidates in this category were invited to an interview and our judges were keen to acknowledge all four shortlisted Managers for their excellent performance.

The runner up: impressed the judges with their enthusiasm and love for their business which has resulted in ongoing, outstanding success for the store. They are just as committed to the success and happiness of the individuals in their team driving them forward with their hands-on approach and regularly rewarding success.

Runner Up: Sandra Williams – Starbucks 

The winner: demonstrated an excellent understanding of the current retail environment and how it impacts their store. They have excellent leadership skills and operate a supportive and honest environment for their team. Their strong vision and willingness to lead by example has already contributed to a number of impressive successes.

Winner: Joe McAuley – Game 

Retailer of the Year Award 

This award was scored by two separate mystery visits and as a result of these, there were two stores tying for second place – so we have two runner ups.

The first runner-up: provided a fresh and vibrant environment in which to have lunch with a varied, exciting range of products. The merchandising was modern and creative and enticed our shopper to try new products. Staff were enthusiastic, well informed and helpful.

First Runner Up: Greggs 

The second runner up: had a well laid out and merchandised store with an exciting product range which has great appeal for their target market. Staff were attentive and able to understand and advise on the customers’ needs.

Second Runner Up: New Look

The winner: has a wide and innovative range of products and an attractive environment in which customers can browse, relax and shop. Eye-catching internal displays give appropriate information helping customers to purchase.  Staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable when giving advice which contributed to an all-round excellent shopping experience.

Winner: Waterstones

Customers Choice Award

As the name suggests this award gave our customers the opportunity to select their favourite store. Over 250 customers were interviewed, and the results are based on their votes.

The runner up: was praised for their friendly staff and excellent range of up to date products.

Runner Up: JD Sports

The winner: was complimented by customers for their excellent products, helpful staff and great prices.

Winner: New Look
